按軋輥材質分有鋼軋輥、鑄鐵軋輥、硬質合金軋輥、陶瓷軋輥等；按制造方法分有鑄造軋輥、鍛造軋輥、堆焊軋輥、鑲套軋輥等；按所軋鋼材狀態(tài)分有熱軋輥、冷軋輥。各種分類可以相應組合而使軋輥有更明確的含義，如熱軋帶鋼用離心鑄造高鉻鑄鐵工作輥。
